MANUFACTURERS
Heart Line works with several pellet producers that produce reliable quality fuel and use good packaging materials.
HARDWOOD OR SOFTWOOD PELLETS
Wood species is an important matter when working with cord wood where hardwood has a much higher density thus a higher Btu value per unit volume (cord) than softwood.
Pellet fuel is compressed wood fiber so the density is uniform, be it softwood or hardwood. Since you purchase pellet fuel by weight (pounds or tons) the species of the wood has negligible effect on the BTU content. Moisture content of the pellet fuel will have a noticeable effect upon efficiency and ash characteristics. Pellet fuel with a low moisture content will result in a higher BTU level or more heat per pound of fuel, and an easier to clean appliance and vent system.
ADVANTAGES
Convenient Comfort
Pellets are packaged in easy to handle 40 pound bags. Pour a bag into your stove, set the temperature so you are comfortable, and relax.
CLEAN COMFORT
Indoor: Enjoy the clean indoor atmosphere when burning wood pellets in a fine quality pellet appliance.
Outdoor: Pellet appliance emissions are very low in particulate output. You can be certain that the pellet fuel you burn will have a very minimal negative impact on the air quality.
EVEN HEAT COMFORT
Harman and Quadra-Fire appliances provide EVEN HEAT. The built-in circulator fan quietly distributes heat evenly. By drawing the air from the floor, the cold air from other rooms “marches” straight to the stove to be reheated. The space vacated by the cold air is replaced by warm air. Adjacent rooms will be pleasantly comfortable too.
SAFE COMFORT
Harman and Quadra-Fire pellet appliances are designed, tested and approved by testing laboratories to ensure that you, the user will be able to operate and maintain your appliance in a safe manner.

WHAT ABOUT THE PELLETS?
Specifications and standards for pellet fuels have been established by the Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI). Various independent testing labs provide quality control testing services to the pellet producers.
GRADES OF PELLETS
Premium Grade Pellets are the most popular variety in the Northeast. Premium pellets work well in most appliances.
You have made a wise decision. You have purchased a renewable energy source - Wood Pellets.
Your Wood Pellets are in Plastic Bags that may appear to be waterproof but each bag has tiny holes that let the air out.
WATER AND MOISTURE ARE THE ENEMY.
When moisture enters the bag it is immediately absorbed by the wood pellets. Once damp or wet, the wood pellets are ruined and can not be used as fuel.
OUTDOOR STORAGE OF PELLETS
Keep the bags covered. The cover that is supplied with each ton is good, but not perfect. The sun and weather can cause the cover to deteriorate then leak water.
Tarps are available from Heart Line! When we deliver your pellets, we will cover them for you. $15.00 will cover 2 pallets!
INDOOR STORAGE OF PELLETS
Any indoor or protected area is fine. Just keep water from dripping on the bags.
If you find damp pellets, separate the damp material and use the rest of the pellets. As long as they are still in pellet form, it is ok to use them. |
